Four dead in northern California car accident
Four people, including two young children, lost their lives in a car accident outside of Placerville last Saturday.
The sky had already darkened over two-lane Highway 50 when the accident occurred. Initial reports indicated that a Toyota Prius struck a Toyota Sienna after crossing the center line.
Three of the Prius’s four passengers were killed in the wreck. They were aged 39, 38, and 8 years old. The vehicle’s only survivor, a 10-year-old girl, was rushed to a hospital in critical condition. There were five passengers in the other vehicle, one of which, a 4-year-old girl, was killed. The remaining passengers survived with seemingly minor injuries. However, there is still a possibility they will discover injuries months from now in relation to this accident.
Investigators plan to examine the computers on board the vehicles to compile more information about what happened in this tragic accident. The data pulled from the computers can help indicate if any of the drivers in the accident were speeding or otherwise reckless.
This accident serves as a grisly reminder of the importance of safe driving habits. To help prevent these kinds of accidents, the California Department of Motor Vehicles offers important driving tips.
If you have been hurt in a car accident because of the irresponsible actions of another motorist, an auto accident lawyer may be able to help you recover damages for the injuries you sustained.
