BMW announces worldwide recall of 1.3 million cars

The world’s largest maker of luxury carmakers, BMW AG, has announced the recall of nearly 1.3 million vehicles across the nation. This recall affects the 5-and 6-series BMW models made between 2003 and 2010 and 386,00 were recalled in the U.S. alone.

According to BMW officials, the recall was made after a faulty cable cover was found in the trunk of some vehicles.

The car company has written car owners telling them to take their vehicles into the dealership to have repairs done. Officials have stated that repairs will only take 30 minutes to an hour and less then 1 percent of cars brought in have experienced this issue.

Father and son die in separate accidents on Interstate 8

Last Thursday, a father and son were tragically killed in two separate accidents on Interstate 8.

The 16-year old son was involved in an accident on the highway at around 7 a.m. near Alpine.  The teen was riding in a vehicle driven by his mother.  For an unknown reason, the mother lost control of the vehicle, swerving off of the roadway.

The vehicle flipped and the 16-year old was ejected.  Paramedics pronounced the boy dead at the scene of the accident.  Investigators believe that the mother’s vehicle may have experienced a tire defect.

Just hours after hearing the news of his son’s death, the teen’s father was involved in a wrong-way accident on I-8.  According to the California Highway Patrol, the second accident occurred at around 1:15 p.m. near Tavern Road.  The father’s vehicle was witnessed driving erratically, westbound in the eastbound lanes of the highway near Tavern Road before colliding head-on with another vehicle.

The father was flown to a nearby hospital where he later passed away.  Another father and son were in the vehicle that the father struck head-on in the second accident and were treated for moderate injuries at Sharp Memorial Hospital.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ family during this difficult time.
