Jack-knifed semi injuries three, kills one on I-805

At least three people were injured and a 36 year-old man was killed Sunday morning when the driver of a semi-truck lost control and jack-knifed across all northbound lanes of Interstate 805 near 47th Street. According to UT San Diego, the 36 year-old man was traveling from the Lincoln Park area when his vehicle collided with and became lodged beneath the jack-knifed semi. He was killed instantly.

Two victims were taken to the UCSD Medical Center while the third was taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital. Their conditions and injuries were not released. California Highway Patrol closed the interstate for two hours following the crashes while emergency workers used the jaws of life to remove passengers from their cars. At this time, the cause of the crash is still under investigation.

No matter how minor, car accidents are scary for everyone involved. Accidents with 18 wheelers and semi trucks are even more terrifying because of the power and size behind the vehicles. According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, one in nine traffic deaths in 2008 involved trucks.

If you or someone you love has been injured in a truck collision that was caused by a reckless driver or negligent trucking company, an attorney can help you receive the compensation you deserve. A personal injury lawsuit can bring the responsible parties to justice and help you obtain the financial compensation you need to move on with your life.
