Drunk driver sentenced for causing fatal car accident
This week, a driver that was charged with drunk driving after causing a fatal car accident in San Diego in March was sentenced to 4 years and 4 months in prison.
The accident occurred at around 2 a.m. on the northbound 11th Avenue onramp onto Interstate 5. Witnesses to the car accident said the driver was traveling at around 6o miles per hour on the onramp when his vehicle flipped. A 21-year old female passenger in the vehicle became trapped and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Reports from the trial indicate that the driver did not drink often but had 5 to 6 small glasses of beer the night of the accident. After the tragic accident, the driver’s blood alcohol content was tested at .1 percent.
