Helicopter collision injuries six in Pasadena

Six people were hurt Saturday afternoon when two Pasadena Police helicopters collided with one another on a helipad. Authorities believe that one helicopter was landing and the other was preparing for take off when the accident occurred, the San Jose Mercury News reports.

All involved suffered minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals. The injured included the two pilots, their observers, and two police officers on the ground. The helicopters sustained major body damage, with one aircraft left with a crumpled tail and broken blades and the other also losing blades. Officers say the landing helicopter had just completed routine patrol and the helicopter about to leave was assigned to cover traffic following the UCLA-USC football game at the Rose Bowl.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the accident. The weather, which was cloudy and drizzly when the crash occurred, may have been a factor.

While air travel has statistically shown to be more safe than traveling by car, several aviation accidents still occur each year. Many of these accidents could have been prevented if the pilot, airline, or its staff did not act recklessly or negligently. If you have been injured in an aviation accident, a lawsuit against the guilty party could help you receive the financial compensation you deserve for your pain and suffering.
