Man cooked to death at seafood plant

Employees at industrial and processing plants face many dangers in their day-to-day activities, some with the risk of serious and even fatal injuries. Several state and federal laws have been implemented by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration over the years, but accidents still happen every day that put workers’ health and safety in danger.

An unfortunate accident at the Santa Fe Springs Bumble Bee Seafoods plant left a 62-year-old man dead after he was cooked in an industrial steam oven early Thursday morning. The man, who had worked for the company for six years, was pronounced dead at the scene. According to NBC San Diego, it is unclear at this time how he ended up inside the cooker.

The California Division of Occupational Safety and Health will conduct an investigation into the death, which is estimated to be completed in six months. If OSHA finds any safety violations, Bumble Bee Seafoods could face criminal and civil charges.

If a loved one has suffered fatal injuries at work due to employer negligence, you have the right to pursue a wrongful death lawsuit against the establishment. While a settlement can never replace the loss of a family member or someone you love, it can bring the guilty party to justice and provide your family with financial stability.
